I was a city kid, born and raised in the Boston area. In 1963 I graduated from Brighton High School, as senior class president. From 1963 to 1964 I took courses at The School of the Museum of Fine Art Boston.  And then attended Butera School of Art, on Beacon Street, Boston, graduating in 1967.  For several years thereafter I did all sorts of commercial illustration, in and around the Boston area. During this period I moved to the suburbs and began exploring nearby fields, woods and  ponds, becoming more aware of and curious about nature.  With this awareness came a growing concern for plants and animals; even as I was discovering them, the places where they were found were fast disappearing.  I decided to capture them on paper.  Believing each individual can make a difference I focused my talent on depicting nature, and more and more included it in my work.  My hope being that, in some small way, my work would help others be more aware and appreciative of the natural world.  Today my concern is even greater.  It is for the environment and the future of the planet.  The Earth has given us everything we could ever need, and we have taken it for granted, neglected and abused it. For the first time in it’s history the Earth needs us.  It needs us to respect it and change our ways. Now!
